FAQ
To protect your bokken permanently, we recommend treating the wooden weapon with linseed oil, for example. This not only provides excellent protection against moisture, but also makes the grain of the wood stand out beautifully. Here I explain what you have to pay attention to.
Treating the Bokken with linseed oil - this is how to do it!
- Before you oil the Bokken, you should sand it finely. The finer the sanding, the more beautiful the surface will be.
- Warm the linseed oil before applying it. The thin oil absorbs better into the wood and is easier to work with.
- For the best effect, apply several thin coats of linseed oil until the wood is saturated.
- Allow the oil to dry well between coats. If necessary, you can remove any wood fibres that stick out with fine sandpaper before applying the next coat.
- Linseed oil needs time to dry... You should allow 14 days for this. It is best not to train with the bokken during this time.
